What group of settlers, seeking compensation for lost property, established communities in both Prince Edward County, Ontario and Front of Yonge?
The United Empire Loyalists, who had lost property in the Thirteen Colonies, were encouraged by the Crown to settle in Ontario. Prince Edward County, Ontario, received some of the earliest United Empire Loyalist settlers through land grants. Front of Yonge was founded by Nathaniel Mallory, a United Empire Loyalist who arrived in the area in 1784.
