In Almaty, cross-country skiing races were held at the Soldatskoe Valley Cross Country Skiing and Biathlon Stadium, along with biathlon and ski orienteering. The Norwegian city of Molde has produced several international cross-country skiers, as well as top ski jumpers and Alpine racers.
