Louis Armstrong was one of the first artists recorded by Gennett Records in Richmond, Indiana, sometimes called the cradle of recorded jazz. He also performed in Athens, Georgia at the Morton Building on the 'Hot Corner', alongside Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington.
