In 1855, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow published The Song of Hiawatha, an epic poem based on Ojibwe legends that are set around the Minneapolis Saint Paul area. In San Blas, Nayarit, bronze bells from the town's ruins are said to have inspired another Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem, 'The Bells of San Blas'.
