What indigenous group connect Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Germantown, New York through ancestral lands and relocation efforts?
The Menominee people's ancestral lands are historically linked to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where a portion of their territory was ceded to the United States in an 1836 treaty. In 1822, representatives of New York negotiated with the Menominee for use of their land as a destination for relocating indigenous tribes from the Germantown area of New York.
