What Scottish explorer's expeditions utilized routes near Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1845 and later departed from Liverpool, England in 1848 for an Arctic expedition?
The Rae Richardson Arctic Expedition, led in part by John Rae, left Liverpool in March 1848 before pushing west from Montreal. An earlier Rae voyage in 1845 took the usual voyageur route via Lake Winnipeg to reach York Factory that October.
