Several European cities tried to host the 2026 Winter Olympics, but many were forced to drop out after their own people voted against it, including Kraków for 2022 and Hamburg for 2024. After Innsbruck's voters said no, an Austrian bid built around the ski town of Schladming and which second-largest Austrian city was also dropped in July 2018?
In Graz, the 'Austria 2026' bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics paired the city with Schladming before the Austrian Olympic Committee withdrew it in July 2018 due to lack of provincial support. It was the third bid defeated by a public vote, after Kraków and Munich 2022 and Hamburg 2024.
