Sir Walter Scott's novel Waverley inspired the naming of at least a dozen U.S. communities. Missouri has Waverly, Missouri, one of those Waverley namesakes, alongside Waverly, Pennsylvania and similarly named towns in Alabama, Iowa, and Kentucky.
