Lower Ninth Ward

United States

The Lower Ninth Ward connects to 2285 places across 17 topics through 50 Bunkabop connections, with ties running heaviest through New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Wetlands, levees, and steamboat-era architecture dominate the mix, alongside Works Progress Administration projects and rebuilding threads. Houses in the neighborhood echo steamboats and the Japanese pavilion from the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. Residents returning after the flood lived in FEMA trailers through 2012, and volunteers continue work toward a sustainable community across the Industrial Canal from Bywater.
