Sicily
Italy
Sicily connects with 26654 places across 29 topics through 2993 Bunkabop connections, shaped above all by history and military conflict. History and military are the two largest topic clusters by connection volume. France and Rome, Italy carry the most shared connections outside the country-level parent. Sicily's autonomy within Italian politics was granted specifically to quiet separatist movements, following revolts in 1820 and 1848 against Bourbon rule. Traditional puppet theatres featuring painted donkey carts and hand-made marionettes extend that layered cultural inheritance into the present.
